Abstract
Objective:The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of periodontal therapy on the level of clinical and glycated hemoglobin in type two diabetic patients with chronic periodontitis.Methods:The patients were randomized into two groups:periodontal therapy group(31 cases)and non-therapy group(31 cases).SBI,PD,AL,HbAIc of periodontal therapy group were recorded before and eight weeks after treatment.SBI,PD,AL and HbAIc of non therapy group were recorded before and eight weeks after medicine therapy.Results:Periodontal therapy group had a statistical significance in the reduction of levels of periodontal index and glycated hemoglobin(P0.01).Non therapy group is not statistically significant.Conclusion:Periodontal therapy allowed for favorable treatment responses in diabetic patients with chronic periodontitis.It can reduce the level of glycated hemoglobin.
