Abstract
MgO-Al_2O_3-SiO_2 cordierite glass-ceramics characterized by low dielectric constant, low thermal expansion and high bending strength were prepared by powder sintering method and using cheap industrial raw materials, such as alumina, talcum and kaolin in this experiment. At the same time a small amount of additive and nucleation agent TiO_2 were also added in order to improve its performance. The results show that the optimal processing regime is nucleation at 780℃ for 2h followed by crystallization at 990℃ for 2h with heating rate 3℃/min.The main crystalline phase α-cordierite together with a small quantity of secondary phases forsterite,MAT and rutile were detected by XRD and SEM.
