Abstract
Objective To explore the application of PDCA circle in the construction of nursing information system. Methods Based on PDCA theory, the information system design program was developed, revised, and implemented from one department to the whole hospital. Then the problems were identified by checking the system status and nursing quality after running, which would be seen as the key points should be controlled in the next PDCA circle. Results After the PDCA circle, nurses satisfaction in the domains of time saving, collecting the patients information, assessment of patients, useful contents, practicality and efficiency of communication with their superiors were improved( P 0. 01). The head nurses were satisfied with the domains of nursing quality control, coping with adverse events, management of nursing staff, management of the medical staff information and communication with other department( P 0. 01). Conclusion PDCA theory is an effective method in the construction of nursing information system.
