Abstract
The method of streptomycin-resistance screening was applied to improve the productivity of bleomycin A2 by Streptomycin verticillus SIPI 7011. The UV light treated spores were smeared on agar plates containing 180μg/ml streptomycin. Among the one hundred and fifty-one streptomycin-resistant mutants, nineteen mutants had the higher bleomycin A2 yields than the original strain. The mutants with high bleomycin A2 productivity occurred at a high frequency(12.6%). The productivity of one mutant increased by 25% over the original strain.
