Abstract
Objective To analyze the clinical effects of embolization with ultra liquefied lipidol and absolute ethyl alcohol in treatment of small hepatocellular carcinoma, and discuss the new methods for treating small hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods 88 cases with 126 lesions which were diagnosed as small hepatocellular carcinoma by color Doppler ultrasound or MRI received hepatic arteriography. After that was confirmed by digital subtraction angiography(DSA),ultra selective catheterization was performed on feeding artery of small hepatocellular carcinoma, embolization with ultra liquefied lipidol and absolute ethyl alcohol(1:0.5) was used in treating 126 lesions of small hepatocellular carcinoma. Results All cases were treated by ultra selective catheterization,no major complications were found. Before the embolization, the diameter of tumors was 0.8-3.0 cm,average diameter was 2.75cm.At 3 months after operation, the tumors completely disappeared in 16 cases, shrank in 72 cases, average diameter was 1.45cm.The 1,3 and 5 years recurrence rate were 17%(15/88),25(22/88),36(32/88),and the survival rates were 100%(88/88),86%(76/88),68%(60/88),respectively.Conclusion Embolization with ultra liquefied lipidol and absolute ethyl alcohol in treatment of small hepatocellular carcinoma is effective with less complication and the recurrence rate is less than surgical operation,it can be used as one of the choice of treatment of small hepatocellular carcinoma.
