Abstract

[Purpose] To improve the recognition of clinical characteristics of disseminated Candida tropicalis fungemia in patients with acute leukemia(AL). [Methods] Clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis were retrospectively investigated in 3 cases of AL patients with disseminated Candida tropicalis fungemia. [Results] Of 3 cases, persistent fever and thrush occured during the time of agranulocytosis, spherical-like or oval multiple low-level echoes were detected in liver under type-B ultrasonic. Candida tropicalis was found by hemoculture. The temperature recovered normal after amphotericin B and flucytosin (5-FC) treatment in 3 cases. [Conclusion] The diagnosis of disseminated Candida tropicalis fungemia needs to be combined with clinical manifestation, laboratory examination and imaging examination. Combined amphoteriein B and flucytosin (5-FC) treatment has a favorable response.
