Abstract
Objective To establish an isolated beating heart model with retrograde perfusion. Methods Isolated rabbit hearts were subjected to antegrade perfusion for 15 min. After beating for 120 min to with retrograde normothermic oxygenated blood perfusion, the hearts were then given and then to antegrade perfusion for 60 min. Myocardial perfusion was evaluated. Cardiac functional recovery was after retrograde perfusion. Results Cardiac functional recovery was good after retrograde perfusion. Heart rates and flow rates were stable during retrograde perfusion. Conclusion Microvascular perusion by the retrograde delivery route is sufficient.
