Determination of common preservatives in materia medical by fast gas chromatography

Abstract
A rapid,simple and accurate method for separation and deter mination of six common preservatives(sorbic acid,benzoic acid,parahydroxy benzoates) in foods by fast gas chromatography has been developed.The fused silica capillary column used was 10 m×100 μm I.D.HP-5.Under optimal con-ditions the six preservatives were baseline separated within 1.3 min,with the average recovery of 96.45%(n=3),detection limits of 1.2~10 μg/mL,and linear correlation coefficient of higher than 0.994.
