Abstract
According to the gene structure of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) and the sequence differences at F0 cleavage sites between virulent and avirulent strains, two primers were designed and the RT PCR method for detecting NDV and differentiating NDV virulent and avirulent strains was developed. The method is rapid, specific and simple for manipulation. It can not only be used for differential diagnosis of NDV strains derived from the inoculated chicken embryo, but also be used for differentiation of the sample of tissue homogenized liquid. It is suggested that this PCR based method is potential for diagnosis of ND, differential diagnosis of NDV and epidemiological investigation.
