Abstract
The surface layer of urban soil(0-20 cm) in Baoding city under six different land use patterns was gathered to determine the physicochemical characteristics, and assess the soil fertility by the revised nemerow integrated index. The results indicated that there were remarkable differences in the physical and chemical characteristics of urban soil under different land use patterns.Compared with the natural soil, urban soil has high bulk density, the pH values assumes neutrality and alkalinity, the content of soil organic matter and available N is low,and the soil available P and available K are high. The order of soil fertility in functional zones of the city was farmland zoneforestry landcommunication residence areabuilding zonebusiness area.In this paper relevant measures for improving soil quality are proposed.
