Abstract
Vocabulary teaching is the most concrete and indispensable procedure in the teaching of a foreign language.The very inadequacy of vocabulary will directly inhibit the students’ foreign language level from improving.In order to help the students memorize vocabulary so that their interest in and capacity of learning English vocabulary will be authentically elevated, great importance should be devoted to directing the students to discover the law of vocabulary learning;special attention should be paid to compare and contrast the social and cultural connotations of the English and Chinese vocabulary;the specialized and systematic elaboration of vocabulary should be presented and the art of English vocabulary teaching should be enhanced.
