Abstract
Objective To understand the fluoride contents of well water and prevalent state of fluorosis in endemic fluorosis area of Qian An County in Jilin Province. Methods 2 villages, including one endemic village named Qian-nan and one unendemic village named Xiao-shuai, were selected by randomly. The fluoride contents of well water, urine fluoride and the rate of dental fluorosis of children and deformed skeletal fluorosis in these villages were determined and examined. Results The fluoride contents of well water in Qian-nan were obviously higher than that in Xiao-shuai ( P 0.01), ranged 2.27 to 11.14 mg/L, which were higher than the limit in 《Sanitary Standard for Drinking Water Quality》 (2001). The fluoride contents decreased with the depth of well ( r =-0.498, P 0.01). The urine fluoride and the rate of dental fluorosis of children in Qian-nan were obviously higher than that in Xiao-shuai ( P 0.01), the rate of dental fluorosis was 76.5%. There still were some deformed skeletal fluorosis in Qian-nan. Conclusions The fluoride contents of well water in endemic fluorosis area of Qian An County were seriously higher than the Sanitary Standard and decreased with the depth of well. The people in endemic area still had severe fluorosis symptoms.
