Abstract
PP/Nano-organically kaolin compound was prepared through the melt intercalation method by using kaolinite/dimethyl sulphoxide as intercalation precursor. The intercalation compound was characterized by the X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),thermogravimetric/differential thermal analysis(TG-DTA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The results showed that the spacing of layers of the PP/kaolinite intercalation compound was about 1.128 nm,the intercalation ratio reached 73 % approximately,FTIR results indicated that the new bond were formed between the PP and the inner surface hydroxyl of kaolinite. The impact strength and thermal stability of intercalation compound were improved as the content of organically kaolin was increased.
