Abstract

Objective To study the regularity of motor nerve ending sproutings in rats with increasing age.Method The motor nerve endings, muscular fibers and motor nerve endplate in rat are demonstrated simultaneously with histochemistry method, and are investigated quantitatively.Result Endplate length was increased with increasing age. Branch points of the motor nerve ending in soleus muscles of rats was increased with ageing from 1. 5 mo-15. 5 mo in rats. But in senile, branch points were deminished. Conclusion Motor nerve endings in rats undergo terminal sprouting in life which is obvious in young rat, but is decreased in senil rat.
