Abstract
Objective To evaluate the endothelial function in patients with diabetic mellitus via High Resolution Sonography. Methods The intima-medial thickness(IMT) of the bilateral carotid artery, femoral artery and the iliac artery of 164 diabetes and 20 normal ones were measured. And the changes of the diameter of brachial artery were determined by measuring the diameter of brachial artery during reactive hyperemia and after sublingual nitroglycerin. Results The IMT in patients with Neuly diagnosed diabetic mellitus incrassated significantly(P0.05).The increased percentage of the brachial artery diameter under reactive hyperemia condition in patients with DM decreased significantly compared with normal control subjects(P0.01).There was no significant difference between the changes in the two groups in response to nitroglycerin(P0.05).Conclusions The injuries of vascular endothelial function can be detected in early-stage of diabetic mellitus via High Resolution Sonography, which has important clinical significance and applicable value.
