Abstract
Objective To observe the protective effects of flunarizine on ischemia reperfusion injury in rabbit retina. Methods Retinal ischemia was induced in rabbits by increasing intraocular pressure to 16kPa for 60 minutes. The ERG b wave was examined before ischemia and 2,7,14 days after retinal ischemia reperfusion respectively.Flunarizine treated groups were given treatment for 12 hours before ischemia, and ischemia reperfusion 12 hours after reperfusion. Results The b wave amplitude of flunarizine treatment groups was restored to 80%.Conclusion Flunarizine was effective in protecting against ischemia reperfusion injury in rabbit retina.
