Abstract
Sound changes should be divided into internal-cause type and external-cause type.Each of them has different mechanisms and laws.Although the lexical-diffusing theory and Neogrammarians’ theory seem to be opposed to each other,yet in fact,the two are respectively applicable to different types of sound change with a complementary relation.
