Abstract
Objective To find out the iodine nutritional status of people in Changde area,we surveied the urinary iodine level of 8 ~ 10 year-old children. Methods Urine samples of children were collected with the Probability Proportionate to Size Sampling (PPS),and sampled the iodized salt eated by the sampling population. The content of the urine iodine and salt iodine was determined by spectrophotometry and titration respectively. The results was processed with statistical analysis. Results The urinary iodine median of 8 ~ 10 year-old children is 364μg /L.The urinary iodine level among the different counties existed significant difference by rank sum test.urine iodine level between boys and girls was significantly different,in addition, uinary iodine level between male and female in Lixian was statistical significance. The mean and qualified rate of iodine salt in household were 23.5mg/kg,97.2% respectively. Conclusion The urinary iodine level of school-aged children in Changde area consistented with the national Ministry of Health standards for elimination of iodine deficiency needs. The iodine nutrition is in good condition, but the differences exist in countries and sexs already.Salt iodine was qualified.
