Observation of efficacy of Rivaroxaban used for Anticoagulation after Hip and Knee Replacement

Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the efficacy of Rivaroxaban used for anticoagulation after hip and knee replacement.METHODS 112 cases of patients with hip and knee replacement treated in our hospital from July 2010 to 2012 were selected and divided into Rivaroxaban group(56 cases) and heparin group(56 cases) randomly.All the patients were surgery by orthopedic standard technique,and complete hemostasis after completion of joint replacement.The surgery should be completed when no significant bleeding or oozing was found.Rivaroxaban group was treated with Rivaroxabon 8 hours after surgery,while heparin group was subcutaneous injected with low molecular weight heparin 12 hours before surgery.All other rehabilitations were the same in the two groups and doppler ultrasound scan was taken for lower limbs.Postoperative drainage,total amount of blood transfusion,bleeding index and adverse reactions during treatment were observed and compared.RESULTS There were no significant difference of postoperative drainage,total amount of blood transfusion,bleeding index and adverse reactions between Rivaroxaban group and heparin group(P0.05).Only one case of deep venous thrombosis happened in Rivaroxaban group(1.79%),while 5 cases in heparin group(8.93%),the incidence of deep venous thrombosis was lower in Rivaroxaban group than that in heparin group(P0.05).CONCLUSION Deep venous thrombosis could be prevented by oral administration of Rivaroxaban after hip and knee replacement.It is safe and worthy of clinical.
