Comparative study of color ultrasonography and photoplethsmography in the test of venous reflux in the lower extremities

Objective To determine the role of color ultrasonography and photoplethsmography (PPG) in the diagnosis of venous reflux in the lower extremities.Methods Color ultrasonography,venography and PPG were used in 118 patients,the examination results were compared.Results There was no significant difference for evaluating venous reflux in the femoral popliteal venous between color ultrasongrphy and venography.The degree of accuracy of PPG in evaluating venous reflux was 75%,sensitivity was 94.03% and specificity was 89%,as compared with those of color ultrasonography.Conclusion PPG as the first test is often used in venous insufficient disease (before and after operation),ultrasonography can provide sufficient and accurate information,especially in communicating venous,venousgraphy is the latest test for chronic venous insufficient disease.
