Abstract

The iron ore in Yunnan province belongs to mixed-type iron ore containing 43.44%Fe,iron in the ore occurring mainly in form of magnetite, hematite or limonite. The content of detrimental elements such as S,P and As,are relatively low, which has no impact on the utilization of the ore.Through study on the mineralogy,a process of low intensity magnetic separation followed by high intensity magnetic separation at the grinding fineness of80%-0.074 mm is proposed, from which an iron concentrate assaying 61.55%Fe can be obtained at the recovery of 85%.A concentrate with higher grade can be achieved by properly increasing the grinding fineness to some extent.
