Abstract
Little is known about the early steps of hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection. This is mainly because of the difficulties in obtaining a sufficient quantity of native HCV virions from serum arising from the lack of an efficient cell culture system permissive for HCV infection.HCV pseudotyped virus is a model that can closely mimic the early steps of HCV infection. With this model,it should become possible to investigate HCV infection in detail and to identify novel HCV receptors. In this article, the production and the application of HCV pseudotyped virus are reviewed.
