Abstract
Of the musical instrument verses of the pre-Tang dynasties,the era of Gu Jian—author ofFlute VersesandHorn Verses,the theme ofPlaying Versesby Jiang Yan,and the titles of String Versesby Fu Yi and Cai Yi are disputable.Through examinations,it is found that the author of Flute Versesis Fu Tao,Gu Jian—the author of Horn Versesis someone of the Jin Dynasty rather than the Tang Dynasty,Playing Versesby Jiang Yan highlightsplaying fluterather thanplaying notes,the verses by Fu Yi areString Versesor two pieces of it,and Cai Yi's verses areString Versesand hisString Playing Versesseems to have been mistaken by someone in the Ming Dynasty.
