Pot experiments were carried out to study the effect of treatment with different concentrations of seawater on chlorophyll contents and ultrastructure of aloe using transmission electronic microscopy.The results were as follows.Treatment with 10% of seawater did not damage the chloroplast and mitochondrion of aloe seriously,but chloroplast became expanded and mitochondrion membrane turned out illegible when the aloe was treated with 30% of seawater.Compared with the control (treatment with Hoagland),there was not significant decrease of chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b in aloe treated with 10% of seawater,while significant decline of both chlorophyll a and b in aloe treated with 30% of seawater.
