Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the effect of 188Re intravascular irradiation on reducing artery restenosis after balloon angioplasty. Methods: Sixty New Zealand White rabbits were divided into control group(n=30) and irradiation group(n=30) randomly.Balloon catheter overstretched on abdominal aorta artery to denude endothelium in both groups. In the irradiation group, radioactive liquid filled balloon irradiation was performed in target segment.Patholohistology samples at 1,3,6 weeks after the operation were analyzed respectively. Results: Compare with the control group in 3 weeks and 6 weeks, neointimal area of the irradiation group was decreased significantly;luminal area of irradiation group was increased significantly;luminal peridimension enlarged significantly;lumial stenosis degree was reduced significantly(P0.05).Conclusion: Apply 188Re to intraluminal irradiation provide experimental bases to prevent restenosis after PTCA efficiently.
