Abstract
Objective: To observe the relations of the plasma brain natriuretic peptide(BNP) and atrial natriuretic peptide(ANP) concentration with chronic congestive heart failure(CHF),and investigate its clinical signicance. Method: Plasma ANP and BNP concentrations of patients with CHF(n=75) and nomal controls(n=21) were measured with immunoradiometicassay immediately after admission.LVEF was measured with echocardiography(SONO1000)at the snme time.Results: The plasma ANP and BNP concentrations of CHF group were significantly higher than those of the normal controls(P0.01).They also increased depending on the severity of cardiac function.The plasma BNP concentration also had asignificant positive correlations with LVEF(r=-0.78,P0.01).Conclusion: The plasma ANP,BNP concentrations of CHF increase more significantly than normal control and it may be a biochemical parameter for evaluating the left ventricular function.
