Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect and clinical value of ultrasonography-guided microwave coagulation on treatment of hepatic carcinoma. Methods Fifty nodes in 33 patients with liver cancer were treated with microwave coagulation under the ultrasound with 40~80 W emission for 150~1 800 s according to size of tumors and spread of vessels. Results After a month, 96% (48/50) nodes were not enhanced on contrast CT, the AFP level recovered to normal in 15 among 21 cases. The intratumoral blood flow disappeared in 95%(42/44) node. After four months, the tumors disappeared in 4 cases. Conclusions Ultrasonography-guided microwave coagulation on treatment of liver cancer is simple, safe and effective.
