Abstract

Purpose:To analyse the relationship of lymph node status and prognosis of cervical carcinoma and to guide the clinical treatment. Methods:From June 1985 to June 1996,602 cases of stage Ⅰb and Ⅱ cervical cancer were treated by operation and among them 108 cases had lymph node metastases. The relationship of lymph node status and prognosis of the 108 patients and the pelvic lymph node status of the 19 patients with paraaortic lymph node metastases were studied retrospectively. Results:The rate of lymph node metastases was 17.9% (108/602). 5 year overall survival rate of the 108 patients was 66.7%. 5 year survival the patients with paraaortic, bilateral pelvic, more than one lymph node metastases, and the metastases lymph nodes large than 1.5cm were 47.4%, 50%, 57.1%, 46.5%,respectively. Conclusions:The status of lymph nodes of patients may be used as evaluation of prognosis. The status of the pelvic lymph node can be a guide to resection the para aortic lymph nodes and thus can improve the resecting rate of paraaortic lymph nodes.
