Abstract
The metaphase chromosomes of Sinibotia superciliaris was obtained from head kidney tissue by the method of phyohemagglutinin (PHA) and colchicine injection, and then the karyotype was analyzed. The results showed that there were 96 chromosomes in the diploid and the karyotype formula was 2n=8m+12sm+20st+56t, NF=116. No sexual chromosome or heteromorphic chromosome was observed. By comparison with the chromosome karyotypes of other Cobitidae species, karyotype of S. superciliaris might evolve from the type of Cobitinae ancestors by Robertsonian translocation, translation of chromosome types and chromosome polyploidy.
