Abstract

England is one of the most densely populated countries in the developed countries. A thousand years ago England had become an urban society. Because of urbanization, clearance of woodland to agriculture and other industries had reduced woodland cover to less than 20%, the lowest in Europe. With the development of urban forest, the woodland cover has been increasing and the urban environment has been bettering. The development of urban forest in Britain is outlined, the experience of constructing urban forest is summarized in this paper.
