Abstract
Objectives: To investigate the status of loneliness and depression among old peopleolder adults in elderly homes and to analyze the relationship between them. Methods: A total of 116 old peopleolder adults were recruited from the first social welfare institute of Beijing and g. They were investigated with by UCLA Loneliness Scale and The Geriatric Depression Scale(GDS). Results: The mean score of Lloneliness was(31.04±8.53) highly prevalent among the elderly old perople in the elderly nurhome and 104 old people(89.7%) felt lonely. Nineteen old people(16.4%) felt depressed with 17 suffering light depression and the other two experiencing moderate to serious depression. Regression analysis showed that sing home(89.7%), and 16.40% had depression. Regression analysis indicated that loneliness and depression could be influenced by each other. Conclusion: Some residents old people in the elderly homes suffer from depression and loneliness, and they are which influenced by each other. The managers in elderly homes should pay more attention to the mental status of the elderly to relieve their negative emotions.
