Abstract
The lateral supply management is an effective approach to improving equipment support. For this purpose,a multi-location inventory model is established based on the steady-state probability of lateral transshipment of repairable spare part. The use of the heuristic algorithm for the model is to find an optimal inventory at each location under the constraints of service level. And the correctness of the model is verified by simulation as well as examples. The result demonstrates that the optimal scheme obtained from the model can not only meet the target of equipment support but also save a large amount of inventory cost. This will be of great significance to the perfection of inventory theory and of much help to the decision-making of a reasonable optimization project.
