Abstract
The application of simple UV-Vis spectrophotometry technique to the study of synthesis of 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole(MNID) is shown to be one of the more rapid and efficient methods for the characterization of nitro group attached to 2-methylimidazole and to monitor reactions occurring on it.Its use is illustrated in the study of novel routes for the preparation of 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole.
