Abstract

Suanle(算了),synchronically,is a heterogeneous element in modern Chinese.Suanle(算了) can be further distinguished:Suanle1(算了1) is a syntactic structure with the meaning of Zuoba(作罢);Suanle2(算了2) is a mood word indicating suggestion or persuasion;Suanle3(算了3) is an adverbial topic marker serving to switch topics or do an act.Both Suanle2(算了2) and Suanle3(算了3) originated from the grammaticalization of Suanle1(算了1).
