Abstract
Objective:To discuss surgical treatment and efficacy of splenomegaly caused by schstomiasis at late-stage.Methods:Clinical data of 31 patients with splenomegaly caused by schstomiasis at late-stage were retrospectively analysed. All of them were treated by surgery. Results:Seven patients received splenectomy alone and 24 patients received peri-cardiac devascularization besides splenectomy. The hypersplenism disappeared and the chances of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage were reduced predominantly, the labor work had recovered variably after surgery. Conclusion:Splenectomy alone or with peri-cardiac devascularization could control the hypersplenism symptoms and decrease the upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage significantly, and be beneficial to recover labor work considerably.
