Abstract

Methods used for partitioning water level proposed in chapterⅥ,High Flood Flow Tests,of River Discharge Measurement Standards, cause small difference in calculaing the main stream with abundant water in the south, while the calculated results are quite different for branch rivers with apparent abundance or shortage of river water and affected by water conservancy projects,as well as the seasonal iced river in the north of the Yellow River. As the national standard,it should be applied to all rivers.Gold section methods(or prefered method ) and empirical method, which are more reasonable in calculating water level at all stations, suit for a variety of river conditions.Gold section method is recommended.
