Abstract
The research status and achievement of the ballistic impact resistance of ship building steel are summarized and reviewed in this paper.Main menaces to warship in the war are generalized.Development of national ship building steel is described. The importance of dynamic constitutive equations is discussed,as well as the means to obtain the values of relative parameters in these equations and some requirements or notification in the use of the equations is also pointed out.Important experiential formulas of penetrating depth, ballistic limit velocity and residual velocity are reviewed, and their limitation and the method of application range are indicated. The destroyed modes and characteristic of targets, and the differences of penetration mechanism between cuspidal and blunt projectiles are studied.Idiographic steps of building models are suggested;the main experimental research directions are summarized, and their important significations are described. The mutual relations among various means in this research field are analyzed. Finally, the method called five steps approach is raised for the investigation of ballistic impact resistance of ship building steel and designing warship’s armor.
