Abstract

Porous SiC/mullite ceramics were prepared by adding pore-forming material method with kaolin clay,SiC powder and Al2O3 powder as raw materials. The effects of sintering temperature on the porosity, bulk density and flexural strength of porous ceramic were studied. The crystal phase and fracture morphology of samples were characterized by XRD and SEM,respectively. The results show that the sample sintered at 1350℃ for 2h with amylum as the pore-forming agent exhibits the most excellent properties: its porosity is 31.40%,maximal flexural strength is 42.50MPa.
