Abstract
This paper applies DEA-Malmquist index approach to estimate the total-factor productivity growth,technological progress rate and efficiency change for the period from 1978 to 2008 in the 13 cities of Jiangsu Province.Our conclusions are as follows.The technology efficiency in Jiangsu province is not improved as a whole but driven by technological progress the TFP is promoted,which can seen from the economic performance from 1978 to 2000.The TFP has decreased continually after 2000 because of the slow-down of the technical progress.In south Jiangsu,the middle of Jiangsu and North Jiangsu,the respective annual growth in productivity is 5.2%,1.2% and-0.04%,and there is a big differences in the drive of economic growth.
