Abstract
The effect of relative viscosity of PA6 on the mechanical properties and structure was investigated. The results show that the mechanical properties of carbon fiber reinforced PA6 decreased with the higher relative viscosity. When the mass fraction of carbon fiber is 15%,the relative viscosity of PA 6 is 2.7,the tensile strength and tensile modulus of carbon fiber reinforced PA6 composite is 179.6 and 11014 MPa respectively, while the relative viscosity of PA 6 is 2.0,the tensile strength and tensile modulus of carbon fiber reinforced PA6 composite is 220 and 14521 MPa respectively, improved by 22.5% and 31.8% respectively. The SEM image shows that carbon fiber distributes uniformly across the composites and the failure mechanism is dominated by fiber pull-out.
