Abstract

The effects of different fertilization levels and modes on maize yield and soil nitrate-N content were studied under field conditions. The results showed that compared to the traditional mode, application of slow release fertilizer increased maize yield by 2.24%.N rate and nitrate-N accumulation in soil profile after harvest was positively correlated, the greater the amount of nitrogen, the greater the nitrate-N accumulation within 100 cm soil. The soil nitrate-N accumulation within 100 cm soil under different treatments was showed as application of slow release fertilizeroptimum fertilizationstrawtraditional fertilization.Compared with the conventional fertilization, the nitrate-N content in 0-100 cm soil under the later three treatments decreased by 48.0%,46.5% and 40.7%,thus reducing the risk of nitrate pollution in groundwater of farmland.Combined corn yield and nitrate-N accumulation, application of slow release fertilizer could ensure production as well as lower the risk of nitrate pollution in shallow groundwater under the condition of this experiment(N 192 kg/ha).
