Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in treatment of the very elderly with coronary heart diseases (CHD). Methods Eighty patients with CHD, 58 males and 22 females, aged (18±4) (80~89), 65 with acute coronary syndrome (81.3%) and 15 with stable angina pectoris (18.7%), underwent PCI 2000~2006. The clinical outcomes were analyzed. Results The PCI su ccess rate for the whole group was 90.0% and the success rate for the target lesions was 93.9%. The PCI-related complication rate was 3.8%. Conclusion PCI is safe and effective in treatment of CHD in patients aged ≥80 with a high success rate and low complication rate.
