Abstract
The abandoned the Yellow River delta lies in the northern coast of Jiangsu province,which formed after the Yellow River was captured by the the Yellow River in history.Now it locates backward positions of economic development in four big coastal deltas in our country(the Yangzi River delta,the Zhujiang River delta,contemporary Yellow River delta and abandoned Yellow River delta).After analysing its benefits and disadvantages,some countermeasures of sustainable development are put forward: to repair environment and to withstand natural calamities;to exploit ports and to use coastline resources;to adjust industries and to develop ecologic economy;and to build a economic zone of the abandoned the Yellow River delta.
