Epidemic Situation of of Measles in Gaozhou City from 2004 to 2008

[Objective]To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of measles in Gaozhou city in recent years,provide theoretical basis for grasping the trend of epidemic situation,control and elimination of measles.[Methods]The data of reports and monitoring of measles epidemic situation in Gaozhou city from 2004 to 2008 were analyzed by descriptive epidemiology.[Results]The average annual incidence rate of measles was 2.065/lakh,the peak season was January,February,March and December.The patients under 4 years and more than 15 years accounted for 55.8% and 15.9%,respectively.The oldest and the youngest patients was 41 years old and 7 months respectively.[Conclusion]The measles incidence of measles in high age group showed an increasing trend.Besides improving basic immunization and strengthening immunization among children,it is necessary to promote universal inoculation of measles vaccine among adolescents timely for elimination of measles.
