Abstract
Objective To test the effects of extracts from several popular plants used for curing skin disease (dermatosis) on tyrosinase activity. Methods 24 kinds of plant were selected, using DOPA as substrate, adding plant extracts and mushroom tyrosinase, measuring A475 and calculating the percentage inhibition of tyrosinase. Results Comparing with the traditional skin whitening crude drugs in Chinese ancient prescriptions,Stellaria media (L.) has the strongest inhibitory effect, and Gynostemma pentaphyllum(Thunb.)Makino and Galium aparine L,are also inhibit the activity of tyrosinase. Conclusion According to its obvious inhibitory effect on tyrosinase,we guess that S. Media (L.) has whitening effect on skin.
