Abstract

The technology for synthesizing 3chloro2hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride(CHPTMA) with trimethylamine hydrochloride and epichlorohydrin in aqueous alcoholic solution in the presence of PTC and cyanation reaction of CHPTMA to form 3cyano2hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium chloride(cyanocarnitine chloride) was studied.The optimum conditions for the catalytic reaction were obtained by orthogonal experiment:pH of reaction liquor 8-9,reaction temperature 35 ℃,mole ratio of epichlorohydrin to trimethylamine hydrochloride 095∶1 and reaction time 1 h.Yield of CHPTMA was 93%.The optimum conditions for cyanation reaction were reaction temperature 40-45 ℃,reaction time 15 h and mole ratio of CHPTMA to NaCN 1∶105.Yield of cyanocarnitine chloride was 788%.
