Abstract

Objective To observe the diagnostic value of ivy sign on MRI with fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) in adult with Moyamoya disease. Methods MRI of 21 patients with Moyamoya disease was retrospectively reviewed. Ivy sign was referred as leptomeningeal high intensity on FLAIR sequence. According to the distribution and the signal intensity, the score was collected. Results In patients with Moyamoya disease, ivy sign was demonstrated in 28 (66.67%) hemispheres, mostly located in the frontal and parietal lobes. The scores of the ivy sign were related with the progression of Moyamoya disease. Conclusion Ivy sign is valuable in the diagnosis of Moyamoya disease. It is propitious to the following up and evaluation of the theraputic effect.
