Abstract

The features of phytoplankton community were studied based on the netz-phytoplankton data in a 16 grid stations investigation in spring and summer,2007 in the Jinzhou Bay.Four classes including 38 genera and 59 species were common found. The abundance and distribution of diatoms determined the total variation of the phytoplankton abundance. The average cell abundance was 5.44×104/m3 in spring and 9.73×104/m3 in summer. The dominant species were Skeletonema costatum and Paralia sulcata in spring and Chaetoceros tortissimus and C.lorenzianus in summer. The horizontal distribution of phytoplankton cell abundance was higher in west and southeast area in spring. In summer it was higher in the west, lower in the east. The high index of the value of phytoplankton Shannon-Wiener shows that the phytoplankton community structure was stable in Jinzhou Bay.
