Abstract

[Objective]To learn epidemiological characteristics of gonorrhea and syphilis in Daxing district from 2004 to 2009 and provide basis for effective prevention strategy.[Methods]Gonorrhea and syphilis surveillance data in Daxing district were analyzed by descriptive study.[Results]There were 697 gonorrhea cases reported from 2004 to 2009.The incidence of gonorrhea was 13.99 per 100 thousand. There were 897 syphilis cases reported from 2004 to 2009.The incidence of syphilis was 18.79 per 100 thousand.Incidence of gonorrhea had fallen totally, but incidence of syphilis had risen.Incidence of gonorrhea had significant difference between males and females, but incidence of syphilis had no significant difference between males and females.People aged from 20 to 39 were the majority suffering both gonorrhea and syphilis, and people aged more than 50 were the majority suffering syphilis too. Most of them were engaged in housework or unemployed.[Conclusion]Control strategies, health education, behavior intervention and STDs management should be based on the epidemiologic characteristics.
