Abstract
Empirical research is not so popular in the sociology of education, and troubled by the controversies around the disciplinary nature of educational sociology, positivism has not obtained the respectable status enjoyed in sociology. Development of educational sociology as a discipline has fully proved that it can maximize its value if viewed as a fact discipline, but could be obliterated by other disciplines if viewed as anormative discipline, so if we want to ensure the independent status of this discipline and construct local educational sociology, positivism is obviously the methodological basis we can not abandon.
